Bigger Than My Block doesn’t mean you’re better than the block, it means that you can rise above the stereotypes that are placed on the block by making the right choices and connecting with the right people.

This website is about providing YOU with resources to make the right choices and connect with the right people.  We share with you stories of success and reviews of colleges by and from young people from Boston.

Bigger Than My Block is part of the Lewis Family Foundation’s (LFF) work in Boston.   LFF also runs initiatives that develop strong leaders in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan (The Spine) including:

Next Generation Leaders:

Next Generation Leaders program provides leadership, work, service, and international travel experiences to develop professional skills and confidence for rising college freshmen to succeed in a 4-year college and be stronger global citizens.

Youth Advisory Council:

Youth Advisory Council is comprised of a diverse group of 8 daring youth leaders from Boston’s- Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan. They are dedicated to creating change in their communities by increasing the 7.5% graduation rate in Spine and advising Lewis Family Foundation on its CollegeWorks Program.  Their goal is to advise the foundation as well as re-invest their own talents into the community.

Youth Facilitators:

These young leaders from Boston are trained to be strong facilitators, leading conversations and goal setting with high school students in Boston.  They help participants learn to take risks, believe in themselves, and SOAR higher than they imagined.

Lewis Family Foundation
Strong Leaders. Stronger Communities.

The Lewis Family Foundation transforms peoples’ lives and builds strong communities by empowering young people, developing courageous leaders and creating strong alliances with key strategic partners. We focus our work in the Lewis family’s hometowns of Boston, MA and Kensington, NH and within the global villages where their company, Grand Circle Corporation travels.

The Lewis Family Foundation has over 30 years’ experience working with community-based organizations to improve the lives in Boston’s most distressed neighborhoods. This work is personal for us. In his youth, Alan Lewis spent several years on the tough Dorchester streets. Harriet Lewis taught in Boston Public Schools. Bigger Than My Block represents our platform for reaching young people and giving them real facts, real voice, and real access to resources to help them get to and through college.
